At Summit Hygiene, responsibility isn’t just a goal, it’s a commitment that runs through every part of our business. From the products we supply to the way we operate, we’re constantly seeking ways to reduce our environmental impact, support the people and communities we work with, and hold ourselves to the highest standards of safety, ethics and transparency.
Led by our Green Roots initiative, we’re building a future where people, communities and the environment can all flourish.
We believe sustainability begins at home.
We take a smart approach to logistics by combining delivery routes wherever possible. This reduces the number of journeys our fleet needs to make, cutting fuel usage and lowering carbon emissions. This streamlined system also improves efficiency, ensuring faster, more reliable deliveries. By taking fewer trips, we not only reduce environmental impact but also contribute to less traffic congestion on UK roads. Over time, these small, calculated changes add up to significant reductions in our overall carbon footprint, aligning with our long-term sustainability goals.
We reuse the packaging we receive from our suppliers, giving materials a second life and reducing waste sent to landfill. Our team actively work to find creative ways to minimize waste in our operations. Once we unpack cardboard boxes, we repurpose to ship goods to our customers. We not only reduce waste but also cut costs and resources needed for new packaging. Our focus on recycling extends beyond packaging, including paper and other materials used in our offices, ensuring we contribute to a circular economy.
Our sustainability efforts extend beyond our products. All our account managers drive electric vehicles, significantly reducing our company’s emissions from transportation. This shift to EVs is a core part of our carbon reduction strategy, ensuring that our operations are as green as possible.
We choose to work with UK-based suppliers to minimise the environmental impact of long-distance transportation. This local sourcing approach not only supports the local economy but also helps us reduce carbon emissions linked to shipping. Many of our suppliers also use recycled materials to manufacture their products, ensuring that the entire supply chain, from production to delivery, remains environmentally conscious.
We commit ourselves to supporting a local initiative at least once per quarter through volunteering, donations, sponsorship, or educational support. We also aim to support at least one of our existing customers every 6 months with a social support initiative for example, free training, product donations, onsite support or with staff wellbeing resources.
Summit Hygiene actively encourages its team to give back through volunteering and community involvement. Several of our employees volunteer with the Rapid Relief Team (RRT), supporting emergency services and vulnerable communities during times of crisis, hardship, and disaster response.
RRT delivers practical relief globally, from supporting fire and rescue services during natural disasters to providing food parcels, meals, and essential supplies to families experiencing poverty and displacement. Summit Hygiene is proud to support employees who dedicate their time and skills to initiatives that provide care and compassion when it is needed most.
As part of the Great British Spring Clean this year, Summit Hygiene took part and pledged to collect 10 bags of litter from our local area. Over the course of 2 sessions, the team brought back an extra 5 bags beyond our target. This was a great way to support our local area.
Summit Hygiene aims to support local charities with donations annually. The comapny have supported the local soup kitchen and in December last year, supported Leighton Lindslade Helpers with a donation of food for their foodboxes to support local families in need during the winter period.
At Summit Hygiene, we support our customers at their internal events and any social initiatives they’re involved with. The company have supported sponsorships, internal company team days, and also attended customer hosted innovations events. As an example, earlier this year, Summit Hygiene supported one of our top customers at their Company Team Day with prizes for their Dragon’s Den pitches and attended with a stand to present innovations and whats new in the industry.
